A Pioneer Bids Farewell. Xavier David Will Never Be Forgotten

Mr Xavier David was a true pioneer, cheese lover and successful marketer of rawmilk cheese specialities. As early as 1969, he recognized the richness of Europe’s rural heritage and the artisanal craftsmanship of small-scale producers across France and the continent. With the founding of Fromi, he pursued a clear vision: to bring the talent of traditional cheesemakers and the culinary diversity of Europe’s regions to a broader audience.

In 1994, he handed over his life’s work to Guillaume Dehaye, who continued to lead the company with foresight and passion. Since early 2025, the company has been in the hands of his son, Ghislain Dehaye – and Fromi remains true to the founding values, 56 years later.

The entire Fromi team is proud to carry on this mission every single day: to support artisanal cheesemaking, to give small producers a voice, and to celebrate Europe’s rich culinary heritage.
