FERT: review of our solidarity action in 2025
Since 2021, Fromi has been supporting the NGO FERT in order to help small dairy farmers in the Lesser Caucasus region of Georgia. In 2025, this solidarity initiative continued thanks to the support of the Xavier David brand, which has been committed to concrete and sustainable projects for many years.
Fromi has been supporting small producers in Georgia since 2021
Project background
In the Lesser Caucasus, a region located in southern Georgia, 64% of the population lives in rural areas and depends largely on dairy farming. The cooperation between FROMI and FERT aims to develop this local dairy sector while improving farmers’ living conditions.
In 2025, FERT supported more than 200 Georgian cattle farmers around three main objectives: increasing agricultural yields, enhancing the value of dairy production, and helping the sector organise itself into collective structures.

- Improving milk quality
Significant work was carried out on animal feed, including the production of silage, the fertilisation of pastures, the implementation of dynamic rotational grazing, and the improvement of hay quality. - Preparing the future of the sector
Awareness-raising and training initiatives in agricultural professions were organised for young people, particularly those wishing to take over their parents’ farms. - Supporting dairy processing
FERT continued its work on the processing and marketing of milk and dairy products. The NGO notably worked to promote Tenili, a traditional local cheese that now benefits from a geographical indication, precise specifications, and a dedicated association of female producers.
A study trip to Switzerland was also organised.
Thanks to the 2025 turnover of the Xavier David brand, €12,704 was donated to support FERT’s upcoming actions in 2026.
Xavier David products are products made for sharing, providing concrete help in the world. Since 2009, €0.25 per kg of cheese sold has been donated to various partner NGOs.
We would like to warmly thank all our customers. Thanks to your support, loyalty, and orders, these solidarity actions can continue to come to life and provide long-term support to Georgian producers.
